The HoopKidz/HoopElite movement is headed for another full exciting Basketball season. While the NBA and it's Players continue to negotiate, our young Players are getting ready for their 2011/12 campaigns. New HoopKidz Instructional Basketball offerings are upcoming in Silver Spring and in Jessup/Laurel. HoopElite In-Season Training begins in early November to allow Players to continue to train and improve during the season. Perfect for Middle Schoolers not competing in School leagues this season. And Hoopz Radio DMV is off to a great 3rd season already with shows featuring DeMatha's Mike Jones, Gonzaga HS Coach Steve Turner, ESPN's Reggie Rankin, Howard University's Kevin Nickelberry and other area Basketball professionals talking and providing their insight into the world of Basketball. Upcoming Shows will feature the DMV's Best College & HS Coaches plus our HS DMV Boys & Girls Top Rankings, Games of the Week, Player reviews and more! New HoopKidz Instructional Basketball sessions are starting in early November in both Laurel/Jessup and Silver Spring, MD. The MD Jr. Sports Center is the site of the Laurel/Jessup of a Saturday morning session beginning November 12th and we begin a Thursday evening session in Montgomery County/Silver Spring at a new location, Woodlin Elementary on November 10th. Our In-Season HoopElite Training & Instruction Basketball session was just added to begin on Sunday afternoon, November 5th in response to our Young Players trying to improve in season. Concentration on Shooting, Game Decision Making, Basketball IQ, Offensive work against Zones, Press and Trap Breaking will be emphasized. Intense Basketball training and problem solving to help Players make adjustments and improve game performance during the season. Great for Middle Schoolers not participating in School teams this year (i.e. Prince Georges County not fielding Middle School Basketball teams this year) Registration is available now!

Special Thanks this month to all of our Parents and Trainees who have been patient with all of schedule changes in the past few weeks. Your help and feedback has been especially helpful this fall as we have strived to create more and complete training programs for your children.

In our Thoughts & Prayers this Blog, the Family and Friends of Cousin, Kevin Dixon of Durham, NC who passed September 17th, 2011. Our sincerest condolences to his Wife and four children and extended Family...Aunt Charlotte Robinson, Robert Robinson, Wendy Reed Smith, Denise Reed, Bob Batten, the Memories of Ursula Benjamin & Hattie James, and Michael Lovings.

Great hearing from all of our HoopElite Trainees & HoopKidz Summer Counselors back in College excited and working hard towards a great 2011/12 Basketball campaign. Good Luck on the Court and in the Classroom... Also, great hearing from all of the Players we worked at Jr. All-American Camps over the Summer. Special Shout Outs to Anton Beard, Little Rock, Ark., Paul White, Chicago, IL, and Jalil Okahfor, Chicago, IL for making USA Basketball Under 17 Team rosters. Locals Beeja Anya (DeMatha HS) and Dwayne Morgan (City College HS, Baltimore) also joined roster. DeMatha's Head Coach Mike Jones is an Assistant Coach with program working out of USA Basketball's Colorado Springs, CO headquarters...

Congratulations to Friends of the Program, Nima Omvidar on his new Basketball staff position at NC State University and John Middlebrooks, who joins the Girls HS Staff at Bishop McNamara... Congrats also in order for Brian Jamison, who joins the staff at Riverdale Baptist HS with Coach Lou Wilson...Special Thanks and acknowledgement to HoopKidz Atlanta Director Aaron Hutchison and Karen Lawson for all their efforts in Atlanta this fall...HoopElite/HoopKidz Summer Counselor, Darren Clark(Largo HS) named Pre-season All-CIAA Conference for Bowie State University...Chris Wright (Bowie, MD/St. John's HS/Georgetown University) playing professionally in Istanbul, Turkey...Congrats to Cousin Alexis Carter(Osborne Park HS Manassas,VA) commits to Hofstra University for 2012/13. Alexis picked Hofstra over VA Tech, St. John's, and James Madison.

HoopKidz/HoopElite Basketball Blog Training Tip: The "Real Crouch"- In training our Younger Players, I have to constantly remind them that they can't just bend over while playing Basketball, you have to really adopt a flexible, agile crouch position to dribble, play defense, and make cuts to the basket. Your back should be arched, you should maintain your balance with foot position and you must work off of your toes. Playing flat-footed and on the back of your heels will render you helpless to quick-cutting opponents...
